What you can upload
Supported file formats
Native text and scanned PDFs. Up to 50 pages get full structured conversion; longer PDFs use direct reading mode.
Microsoft Word files. Headings, lists, and images are all preserved and converted.
E-books and long-form books. Chapters are extracted for section navigation.
Notion, Obsidian, Roam, and Google Docs exports. Inline images extracted automatically.
Paste a link to any Substack, Medium, news article, or blog post. No file needed.
.doc files (older Word format), .rtf, and .odt are not currently supported.
To upload a .doc: open it in Word or Google Docs, save as .docx, then upload — or export to PDF.
Under the hood
What happens after you upload
Inti Reader does not just store your file — it transforms it into something you can actually read, listen to, and search.
- Your original file is saved. You can always download it again from your Library.
- The document is converted to structured text. PDFs go through an AI vision pipeline. Word files use a precision converter. EPUBs are extracted chapter by chapter. Markdown is parsed directly.
- Images are extracted and stored. Every image in your document is saved separately and displayed inline when you read.
- A reading structure is built. Headings become navigation anchors so you can jump to any section instantly.
- The document appears in your Library. Ready to read, listen to, search, and share with your Inti.
Getting the best results
Tips for great uploads
Common questions
Uploading questions answered
-
What file formats can I upload to Inti Reader?
Inti Reader accepts PDFs, Word documents (.docx), EPUB e-books, and Markdown files (.md). You can also import web articles and blog posts directly by URL — no file needed. Legacy .doc files and ODT/RTF formats are not currently supported.
-
Can I upload scanned PDFs?
Yes. Inti Reader uses an AI vision pipeline to read scanned PDFs page by page, transcribing text and preserving document structure. For best results: good lighting, camera parallel to the page, no motion blur. Scanned PDFs take a little longer to process than native text PDFs.
-
Is there a page limit for PDFs?
PDFs up to 50 pages are fully converted to structured, navigable text with headings and section navigation. PDFs longer than 50 pages use a direct reading mode — fully readable and listenable, optimised for reliability at length.
-
How do I import an article from the web?
Open the Document Picker in your Library, tap “Import from URL”, paste the article link, and tap Import. Inti Reader fetches the article, strips ads and clutter, and adds a clean, readable version to your Library. Works great with Substack, news sites, and most public blogs.
-
Can I upload a .doc file?
Legacy .doc files are not supported right now. Open the file in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, save a copy as .docx, and upload that. Or export it as PDF — both work great in Inti Reader.
-
How long does processing take?
Most documents are ready in a few seconds. Complex or multi-column PDFs may take 10–20 seconds. Scanned PDFs take a bit longer since each page is read by an AI vision model. Your document will appear in your Library when it is ready.
